When the seas of life grow stormy, everyone needs a rock to cling to. What's yours?
In this picture my left hand is on the earth in bhumisparsha mudra. It's very interesting to learn about this Buddhist hand gesture and how it depicts the earth openly witnessing the Buddha's enlightenment after a time of great temptation. This same theme can be found in bible references like from the book of Isaiah..."The mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands." To me all this points to the intimate relationship between the human and divine; earth and heaven...here and now. It's the struggles that force us to cling to the rock and this ultimately puts our life on more solid ground.
