(Adding isometric resistance into yoga posture is really another name for sthira/sukha. In our pigeon pose variations today we worked on drawing the legs in toward each other instead of letting them splay out which creates imbalance on the side of flexibility. Even where the hand is grasping the foot isometric resistance can be applied so muscles are engaged which stabilize the ankle knee and hip joints. While from the outside it looks and even feels like we're not going as deep, we're really going deeper into the fascia layer of tissue. As we move inward with the visible mind (i.e. body) we move deeper into the invisible body (i.e. consciousness).)
