Even the western medical model, which has been based primarily on a system of designated experts who patch up parts, is finding it's way toward a more holistic approach to healing, where the whole person is taken into account and more emphasis is being placed on the mental state of the patient. Other healing modalities have been taking this approach for centuries and according to biblical accounts one renowned healer called Jesus once said that ages following his time on earth would do "greater works" of healing than he did. That's an incredibly hopeful prophecy for mankind and one that can inspire anyone on the path to healing.
In an expansive universe it makes sense that real healing would require human consciousness to see something new.
